A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Colorado sales tax. Colorado exempts a range of farming-related transactions from sales and use tax. These include sale of farm equipment such as trailers, towables, irrigation equipment, and dairy equipment. However, only non-registered vehicles qualify for the exemption. If your farm vehicle is not registered with the county motor office, then you can benefit from the exemption. Vendor are supposed to retain the affidavit for at least three years from the date it is filed for the month's sales tax returns.
